Welcome to life in 5P...

Our new topic is USA!

Stars and Stripes...

Our Class Read: Kidnap on the California Comet

After the excitement of his adventures aboard the Highland Falcon Thief, Harrison Beck can't wait for the opportunity to go on another amazing train journey. So when his Uncle Nat invites him aboard the California Comet, the iconic three-day train journey from Chicago to San Francisco, he leaps at the chance to travel. But when the daughter of billionaire entrepreneur August Reza goes missing en route, Hal finds himself with another mystery to solve. Can he uncover the kidnapper before the journey's end?

We had another fantastic stunning start in January - introducing the children to our new theme: Stars and Stripes. We travelled in style aboard a flight to New York City. We made apple pies, tasted Hershey's Cookies 'N' Creme chocolate and enjoyed hotdogs with a variety of toppings including crispy onions, ketchup and relish. The children had fun baking and trying all the American goodies.

In between cooking and eating, we also had time to have a go at drawing the Statue of Liberty and Mickey Mouse. I am sure you will agree that we have lots of budding artists in our class.

At the end of the day, we tested our knowledge about all things American with a quiz and listened to Country and Western and Rock 'N' Roll music legends like Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley.

Once we had discovered the sights and sounds of New York City, we continued our American journey westwards to Chicago.

Where will our trip through the USA take us next?

Ancient Greeks...

It has been an interesting and enjoyable start to life in 5P. Getting to know each other has been fun.

Our theme this term is the Ancient Greeks and for our September Stunning Start we learnt all about the Greek Goddess Pandora. We acted out the Greek myth of Pandora's Box - in the form of a "Story Whoosh". Everyone in 5P had a great time and there are certainly some budding thespians amongst us!

In the afternoon, we set to work on individual collages of Pandora and worked collaboratively on a large version for our display. This looks wonderful and we can't wait for you to see it in person.

We are very much looking forward to learning more about the mythical creatures and Greek Gods and Goddesses this term.
